This Monday we had a record number of attendees at our Short Sale Webinar at Ticor. I put this crude graphic together to visualize part of what made this work for us.
I’m preparing today to show homes to a buyer tomorrow that qualifies for the King County Downpayment assistance program of up to $30,000.
She learned about the program last August in one of the Free Washington State Housing Finance Commission classes co-taught by me and Lin Helm with Eagle Mortgage.
With this program, the buyer’s price point went from $150,000 to up to $185,000 - which makes quite a difference in the quality of home that we’re looking at. As a single mother of two - we were getting discouraged at the homes available for under $150,000. So needless to say… we’re excited.
If you or you know someone that wants to learn more about this program & others - I’m teaching classes in the Kent, Auburn, & Federal Way area on: January 13,16,17,20 & 22nd. You can reach me at: bonniest@johnlscott.com or WaHomes4sale.com
Serendipity - This was a genuinely impromptu recording. Janet Matzke and I were out doing 12 second videos to say thanks to clients when we ran into our building neighbor and got this on film!

…yes a stunt double was used. No County Managers were harmed in the making of this video. And I brazenly used the ‘Ken Burns Effect’ on the stills.
The passing of the key… The venerable Ticor Mini has found a new home. Coincidentally, the buyer purchased it as a surprise for his lady (a Ticor Rep in Salem, OR). He had no idea that the car was used as a local marketing campaign for Ticor in Pierce County, WA. He found the car on Craigslist. True story.

I grew up in the Tacoma area and loved it. Yes there were moments when gangs and Honda Accord thefts were out of hand, but It’s a totally different city than it was 20-years ago. I still appreciate T-Town and it’s nice to see some good press with regards to the real estate market.
10 Best and Worst Real Estate Markets over the Next 5-years
I signed up for Robo.to recently to test it out. It’s a little strange to record a few seconds of yourself without any audio so I just made a few faces…
This is an example of the widget they offer.
I”m a fan of the little guy. Great guitars and pedals and great service.
I’m very fond of A Sharp Music because it harkens back to the time before the “big box chain music store”. They’re not big although they have a substantial inventory. I think there are two things that really set them apart.
1. Their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They’re the kind of people that you would trust your most expensive equipment with. They’re not pushy and they’re actual musicians.
2. They stock high quality and niche stuff. Are you looking for boutique or hard to find guitar pedals? They probably have them in stock. Are you looking for George L’s cables for your pedal board? They have it. Do you want to test out a $3,000 PRS hollowbody in a store that is not already throbbing cacophonously at 112 decibels? This is the place.
At Ticor, we’ve been running an internet marketing campaign that asks the question, “how will they find you?”. With @ 92% of home-buyers going to the web first, this is an important question to know the answer to.
Here’s one of the cards that didn’t make the cut because it was too dark. I still like it because it implies conversation and conversations are markets.
